Landscape improvements offer a new view of Fairfax City Hall

The City of Fairfax recently unveiled the completed Fairfax City Hall landscape improvements project, a $750,000 investment that enhances the function and ecological value of the civic space.
IMEG provided landscape planning, civil engineering, and construction administration for the .25-acre site, helping the city preserve the vision of its 1962 building while introducing modern upgrades.
The design incorporates 85% native plants and trees to support local ecosystems, rain gardens to manage stormwater, and landscaping features that attract pollinating insects. Energy-efficient LED lighting, benches made from recycled plastic, and improved paving and edging further enhance sustainability and usability.
The updated landscape also improves safety and accessibility with new stairs, railings, and a connecting sidewalk. The result is a revitalized civic front yard that combines ecological benefits, enhanced aesthetics, and long-term community value.
