Cory Davis is client executive for IMEG’s civil engineering team in western Montana. In the Q&A below, Cory talks about his new role, his background, and the challenges he hopes to solve.

Q: What are your responsibilities in your new role with IMEG?

A: As the client executive for the western Montana civil team, I’m responsible for leading client engagement, business development, and team coordination of our civil engineering projects in the region, as well as developing relationships with other teams within IMEG to explore opportunities for collaboration on projects nationwide. My focus is on maintaining our strong client relationships and ensuring our team delivers high-quality deliverables and results that align with our clients’ goals.

Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in civil engineering?

A: Civil engineering is such a broad-based type of engineering. It’s a great mix of problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork to bring ideas to life and across the finish line. It’s rewarding to drive by a project in the community and think, “Our team helped make that happen.” There’s a deep sense of accomplishment and satisfaction in knowing that our work shapes the places where people live, work, and play.

Q: How will your career to date, and your experiences, serve you in your new role with IMEG and its clients?

A: I’ve worked on a wide range of projects over the years, ranging from municipal infrastructure to private development. This experience has given me a solid understanding of both technical design and client expectations. I have spent a lot of time in the field and engaged closely with our local community, which allows me to approach my work with a practical mindset and a strong emphasis on communication. I prioritize being client-focused and strive to stay ahead of potential issues to make the process as smooth as possible for both our team and the client.

Q: What are some of the other challenges or issues clients face that your team is looking to solve?

A: Beyond technical design, many clients face challenges navigating permitting, managing budgets, and coordinating across various agencies. Our team works hard to simplify the process by being proactive, responsive, and detail oriented. Our goal is always to be a trusted advisor, rather than just a consultant, and we take pride in anticipating needs before they become issues, helping our clients confidently move forward on their projects.

Q: What satisfies you or motivates you the most about the work you do each day?

A: For me, it’s all about seeing progress—watching a project take shape and knowing we played a part in delivering positive results for our clients and community. I also really enjoy collaborating with our talented team and solving problems together. No two days are the same, which keeps things interesting and fast-paced.

Q: Do you have anything on a “bucket list” that you wish to do or achieve in the future, either personally or professionally?

A: Professionally, I’d like to continue helping IMEG expand its presence and impact across Montana while also mentoring the next generation of leaders within our team. Personally, given the amount of golf I play, I would like to think that I would eventually cross that elusive hole-in-one off the bucket list, but alas, that has escaped me so far.
