East Moline will hold a grand opening for its new downtown library on Sept. 12, 2022.

The Louis E. Woodworth Public Library is more than double the size of its original location. TBK Bank donated its 16,000-sf former Midwest headquarters building for the project, and a 6,000-sf addition was added.

IMEG provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, civil, technology and audio-visual engineering design services and construction administration for the $7.1 million renovation and new addition.

The library is East Moline’s largest public service project in 60 years. It includes a 125-seat community meeting room, two study rooms, expanded collections, and more access to technology and Wi-Fi. The library has more than 100,000 visitors annually.
