The final steel beam has been placed on the Non-Kinetic Operations (NKO) Facility at Offutt Air Force Base outside Omaha, NE, part of a complex, $389 million U.S. Department of Defense project that also includes a defense courier station (DCS). IMEG is providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering services for the project as a subconsultant to Turner Construction.

The new buildings will allow Offutt’s 55th Wing and Air Force information operations unit to consolidate at one base. It is the last contract of the Offutt Flood Recovery Program, which has rebuilt parts of the base damaged or destroyed by major flooding in 2019.

The three-story, 420,000-sf NKO facility will house intelligence, training and maintenance, and reconnaissance squadrons. It will include a simulator lab, training spaces, classrooms, an auditorium, telecommunication rooms, and simulator bay, along with administrative and support spaces. The 5,000-sf DCS will be a shipping and receiving facility.

The facilities are slated to open in December 2027.
