MSA now IMEG provided MEP engineering services for the Cherokee Elementary School rebuild and remodeling project—which recently received an ENR Southwest Best Project in the K-12 education category.

The Paradise Valley, Arizona, school features new classrooms, administrative and multipurpose buildings, a gym, a new cafeteria, and a new parking lot with extended waiting lanes and drop off zones. Completed in April 2021, the project was executed in three phases in order for the building to remain fully operational throughout the school year during a global pandemic. To do this, careful consideration to coordination with school officials, construction teams, and government officials was necessary.

A highlighted feature of the school was the addition of an authentic and aesthetically repurposed school bus inside the library. The bus is a unique nod to writer Barbara Perk (author of the Junie B. Jones book series) whose inspiration for the character came from her own time spent at the Cherokee Elementary School.
