Sanford Health has broken ground on the Sanford Health Virtual Care Center in Sioux Falls, S.D., which will serve as a hub for virtual clinics and telemedicine services.

Sanford Health officials say the $350 million, 60,000-sf facility will change how care is delivered to rural areas.

It will house dedicated clinician workspaces equipped with the latest telemedicine technology and supply on-demand urgent care, behavioral health care, and primary care. The building also includes a training and research center to study digital healthcare and educate medical students, residents, and nurses in its use.

IMEG will provide mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and technology engineering design services as a subconsultant to HKS Architects.

It is expected to open in 2024.
