Social Lab receives Fast Company Innovation by Design award
The Museum of Tolerance Claudia and Nelson Peltz Social Lab in Los Angeles has received Fast Company’s Innovation by Design Award 2022 in the Experience Design category.
The awards honor designers and businesses working to solve the problems of today and anticipate those of tomorrow.
The Social Lab is an immersive technology-driven 10,000-sf gallery that delves into issues of intolerance in daily life. It features touchscreens, an immense media cube that projects onto four glass surfaces, and soundscapes to engage visitors as they confront racism, bigotry, and anti-Semitism in their individual biases and through local, national, and global crises. Because they are digital, the exhibits can be changed or adapted over time.
IMEG provided structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection engineering design services. The work included structural engineering to support new walls, free-standing exhibits, and ceiling-mounted elements; changing existing HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Condition) distribution ductwork, supply and return registers; lighting, power, and conduit design, and changing the fire sprinkler/smoke alarm system.
