A plan to redevelop the Potomac River Generation Station property in Alexandria, VA, has been named the Virginia Development of the Year.

The Virginia American Planning Association awarded the project The Red Clay Award, honoring “the development that exhibits the values of great planning, helping to create a great place in Virginia.”

The project will transform the 18-acre former coal-fired power plant property on the Potomac River into a mixed-use site, with housing, office space, retail, arts, and open space with access to the waterfront. Demolition of the power plant is expected to begin in 2024.

IMEG is providing civil engineering design services, entitlements, stormwater management/best management practices, boundary surveying, topographic surveying, subsurface utility engineering, test pitting, and urban forestry for Phase 1 of the project.
