Three IMEG projects earn FIERO Awards

Three IMEG firehouse projects have earned design awards from the Fire Industry Education Resource Organization (FIERO).
The awards honor fire stations constructed or renovated in the last five years, or deactivated fire stations converted to other uses.
Davenport Fire Station No. 3 – Honors Award
The state-of-the-art, 18,740-sf Fire Station #3 in Davenport, Iowa, includes a two-story apparatus bay housing three fire fighting vehicles, a full kitchen, dining area, TV and gaming lounge, bunk rooms, outdoor roof terrace, and multifunctional storm shelter that doubles as an emergency operations center and meeting room.
To meet the EUI target of 20 to 40 btu/sf/year, the design includes energy recovery ventilation and LED lighting.
IMEG provided structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, civil, and technology engineering design, construction administration, and geotechnical and topographic survey services.

Monument Fire Station No. 3 – Merit Award
Monument Fire Station in Monument, Colorado, is a new one-story 20,320-sf solar-ready fire station and administrative offices building.
It includes four apparatus bays, administrative and living areas, bunk rooms, kitchen, a gym, workstation, and apparatus support, and decontamination areas. A training and community room are community accessible but separate from the fire crew.
IMEG provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology engineering design, and energy modeling and commissioning services.
FDNY Engine Company 74 – Commendation
Originally built in 1888 for horse-drawn apparatus, this narrow, 25-foot-wide landmarked firehouse was renovated to include 21st-century life-safety, structural, and mechanical systems— while maintaining its historic integrity and complying with stringent landmark regulations.
IMEG provided civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering design services.
