Three IMEG projects received ACEC Engineering Excellence National Recognition Awards after advancing from their state-level competitions: The Oregon Public Library in Oregon, Wis., the Rockford Public Library (pictured) in Rockford, Ill., and the 21c Museum Hotel in St. Louis, Mo.

Oregon Public Library
IMEG provided structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering design, and technology services for the all-electric library (pictured), which included 129 solar panels and a 42 well geothermal bore field.  The village of Oregon, Wisconsin, had outgrown its downtown library. When a downtown location was deemed unsuitable for expansion, the village chose to build its new library in a rural, but rapidly growing area of the village next to a conservation park. The 31,000-sf, two-story facility embraces community, sustainability, and nature. Read IMEG’s project blog.

Rockford Public Library
The new 68,000-sf, state-of-the-art Rockford Public Library features a cantilever structural system, underground parking, enhanced technology and connectivity, and a variety of event spaces, including multiple roof terraces, outdoor areas, recording studios, maker spaces, an art gallery, and large meeting rooms. The previous library, built in the 1960’s, was demolished to make way for the new state-of-the art library that will serve the community for years to come. IMEG provided structural, mechanical, electrical, and technology design as well as commissioning services. Read more.

21c Museum Hotel
IMEG provided engineering and design services for the full adaptive re-use of a former YMCA in downtown St. Louis into a 21c Museum Hotel, a full-service boutique hotel, art museum, and restaurant. The 10-story YMCA building was constructed in 1926 in the Renaissance Revival style with some Gothic elements and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The renovation adhered to requirements from the SHPO for the historic preservation aspects of the building. Read the IMEG project blog.
