AIA New York State has recognized two IMEG-engineered projects with Excelsior awards.  

The annual awards honor the best in publicly funded buildings, outdoor areas, and public art across New York State.  

Crosby Hall, University of Buffalo 

The renovation of Crosby Hall at the University of Buffalo in Buffalo, New York, received an Honor Award for Historic Preservation. Crosby Hall is home to the University of Buffalo’s School of Architecture and Planning.  

The building was reimagined with large, open, and flexible studio and instructional spaces that can serve up to 500 architecture undergraduate students.  

IMEG provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering design and energy modeling services for the project. IMEG’s design aimed to meet the State University Construction Fund (SUCF) Directive 1B-2 Deep Energy Retrofit Target and achieve LEED Gold Certification by implementing energy-efficient and sustainable building solutions.

Marshall Hall, SUNY College of Environmental Science & Forestry 

The renovation of Marshall Hall at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science & Forestry in Syracuse, New York, received a Merit Award for Renovation/Addition.  

Marshall Hall is the second oldest building on campus and eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. The renovation created modern and accessible teaching spaces for the Departments of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Studies while retaining the building’s historic identity. 

IMEG provided mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering design and energy modeling services for the project. The project was designed with a Deep Energy Savings Retrofit target of 50% energy reduction relative to the building’s existing consumption and received a LEED v4 Gold rating.
