Two IMEG projects among CAM magazine’s projects of the year
Two IMEG structural projects were recognized in the Most Outstanding Commercial Construction Projects of the Year by CAM magazine. The projects, the Detroit Free Press Building and the Beaumont Botsford Hospital Expansion, were both highlighted for their collaborative efforts and innovative solutions.
The Detroit Free Press Building is a six-story, 300,000 sq-ft structure in the city’s downtown. Originally the home of Michigan’s oldest newspaper, the building was dormant for decades until a renovation effort was started to rejuvenate the historic facility. CAM magazine highlighted the collaboration required for the completion of the project as well as the unique and challenging additions to the building such as the swimming pool and parking structure.
The Beaumont Botsford Hospital Expansion project was intended to increase the quality and safety of the patient experience while also reducing costs. The $160 million project was started in 2014 and features newly modernized and updated private patient rooms, new emergency rooms, and inclusive care units and surgical suites. The renovation encompasses more than 210,000 sq-ft and was highlighted by Cam magazine for its coordination of a multitude of different teams as well as its potential to help the community.
