Voters approve bond for North Scott School District’s Regional Innovation Center
Voters in the North Scott Community School District have approved a $25 million general bond that will be used to build a Regional Innovation Center and make other capital improvements.
The $18 million, 85,000-sf center is a partnership with Eastern Iowa Community College and will offer training for jobs in construction, electronics, diesel, HVAC, plumbing and agriculture. The regional center will serve North Scott and neighboring school districts.
IMEG will provide structural engineering design services for the center, as a sub-consultant to Legat Architects.
The district expects to spend $45 million on projects as part of its North Scott Vision 2025 plan. The other $20 million will come from SAVE (Secure an Advanced Vision for Education) bonds, generated from state sales tax to fund school infrastructure. Other projects include upgrades to two elementary schools, the junior and senior high schools and athletic facilities.
