Arts and Tech Academy Expansion
IMEG provided civil engineering, surveying, and landscape architecture services for the 40,000-sf expansion of the existing school building. Services included detailed stormwater management design to meet the new Department of Energy and Environment’s (DOEE) stormwater management, on-site retention and detention requirements. Requirements included designing large portions of green roof and a large underground cistern. The cistern is being used for site landscape irrigation, and was installed out-of-sight, below the parking lot.
IMEG also prepared Green Area Ratio (GAR) plans, utility plans for necessary upgrades, and the redesign and rerouting of the existing DC Water utility water and sewer mains that ran through the property. Construction was completed in summer of 2016, and the school now services over 1,000 pre-kindergarten through eighth grade students.
