Automotive Lab and Shop Fit-Up
IMEG provided engineering design and services for this two-phase project for Visteon Village. Phase 1 started in December 2003 when Visteon initiated the consolidation of its southeastern labs from 14 sites to five, including the new Visteon Village. A complete set of construction documents and equipment fit-up/installation documents were issued in July, 2004 with a completion in the spring of 2005. The project includes renovations of existing facilities, as well as the fit-up of the new facility in Van Buren, Mich. Phase 2 started in January 2006 and consolidated the final two non-Visteon Village labs to either the Village or Mexico. This phase was completed at the end of the second quarter in 2006.
The project scope involved:
- Fit-up for more than 600 pieces of new and relocated equipment
- Labs: Acoustics, vehicle dynamics, dynamic simulation, environmental, fuels and evaporative emissions, EEE, illumination, thermal analysis, rotation and air flow
- Support functions: Metrology, garage services, machine shop, materials lab, design studio, advanced cross systems, benchmarking, innovation works and power electronics / motor development
