IMEG provided Security Consulting Services for LA County Parks and Recs to assist in a security lighting assessment of 61 parks throughout the County.
IMEG was hired to perform existing facility exterior lighting assessments at sixty-one existing priority facilities as outlined by the Owner. The purpose of the study is to ascertain the readiness of the parks to provide extended park hours beyond current closing hours (dusk). There are varying sizes of each facility. Based on the information provided by the Owner, there are 24 small (0-10 acres), 28 medium (10-40 acres), and 9 large (+40 acres) park facilities included with this facility assessment.
The reports identified the description of existing conditions, lighting inventory, recommendations for lighting improvements to address the extended park hours, and provide quantities and general assumptions to our cost estimator to develop a Rough Order of Magnitude cost estimate.
Following completion of all individual park facility assessment reports, IMEG provided a program-wide report that summarized the conditions, needs, and recommendations at the sixty-one priority facilities.
The goal of this project was to assess parks in various locations throughout the county to determine, operational hours during periods of darkness, whether lighting was effective and efficient for park visitors as it relates to safety during hours of darkness, providing drove flights to determine areas of interest or need for improved lighting.
