The project: The new facility houses outpatient services for cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures, a cardiac rehab facility, and MOB for two physician groups. The design featured two cardiac cath labs, diagnostic imaging lab, a grand entrance, and parking garage below level 1.

The goal: Meet the growing need for outpatient cardiac care and emergency services for acute cardiovascular issues.

Design approach: IMEG participated in user meetings to ensure the MEP systems met the owner’s needs. The MEP system design options were based on other MOBs that the owner constructed in previous years, IMEG reviewed those designs to validate the proposed systems for this project. The validated design options were presented to the owner for approval.

Challenge: Designing the ASC space, which was on top of the MOB space. Solution: Equipment was placed on the roof, parking garage, and level 1 to serve the ASC and was coordinated with the MOB utilities.

Challenge: The parking garage has a three-story medical facility above it. Solution: Engineers were innovative in finding pathways for louvers, flues, and intakes for equipment in the parking garage.

The outcome: The new facility provides new heart health services for the community.
