Grant Application and Road Reconstruction
The project: IMEG assisted with preparation of TIGER grant and Construction of the Wind River 17 Mile Road. The project included reconstruction of 8.3 miles of 17 Mile Road (West Section), also known as Fremont County Road #334.
The grant: A $9 million TIGER grant was awarded by the US Department of Transportation for project construction.
Design approach: This project includes extensive coordination and partnering to ensure the feasibility of improvements. IMEG worked with the Tribe to evaluate alternatives, develop the TIGER grant application, manage the project, conduct quality control, project cost tracking, CFL quarterly reporting, and construction surveying.
The outcome: The project improved substandard horizontal roadway segments including horizontal curve realignment, grading, drainage improvements, and irrigation facility construction.
Overall, the project created a safer roadway for passengers and the nearby communities.
