Gymnasium and Classroom Seismic Rehabilitation (SRGP)
The project: Seismic rehabilitation of the Days Creek Charter School gymnasium, located within a 21,640-sf, wood-framed facility originally constructed in 1940 with a significant expansion added in 1989.
The goal: Strengthen the gymnasium and adjoining spaces to meet current seismic safety standards while preserving the functionality of a building that serves both academic and community needs.
Project amenities: The rehabilitated space includes a gymnasium, weight room, lobby, snack bar, classrooms, offices, restrooms, and storage rooms. These spaces support a wide range of student and community activities and are essential to the daily operations of the school.
Design approach: IMEG was selected through a competitive proposal process over the firm that authored the school’s SRGP application. Serving as both Structural Engineer and Owner’s Project Manager, IMEG is leading the project through a streamlined design process with a strong emphasis on collaboration, constructability, and long-term resilience. Their dual role ensures consistency between design, oversight, and implementation.
Project outcome: Construction on the project started this summer, with completion scheduled for August 2025. Upon completion, the upgraded facility will provide a safer, more resilient environment that protects the building’s historic value while enhancing its role as a hub for education and community engagement.
