The project: IMEG provided structural engineering services for the addition and renovation of South Oak Cliff High School. Funded through the 2015 Dallas ISD Bond Program, the transformation included a major renovation of the school – about 90% of the building – and additions totaling 60,000-sf.

The goal: To provide a modern, safe learning environment for students and staff.

The design: A two-story addition houses science labs, community meeting spaces, administrative offices, and a more open entryway. The athletic facility addition includes a gymnasium, weight room, and auxiliary gym that also serves as a storm shelter. The project also focused on the outdoor learning component with re-purposing courtyards for learning and seating.

The outcome: The extensive renovations make this school feel new, and the updated spaces provide ample opportunities for collaborating and learning, both indoors and outdoors.
