Hospital Addition and Renovation
IMEG provided medical equipment planning and procurement services for a two-phase addition and renovation project at Piedmont Healthcare’s flagship at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital.
Piedmont has embarked on a 10-year expansion, starting with a new, 16-floor tower that will increase their capacity to care for patients. This new tower increases Piedmont Atlanta’s capacity to care for patients and the community, speaks to it’s reputation as a premier destination center for cardiovascular care, and will enable the critical expansion of other key healthcare services.
Phase 1 featured the construction of the Heart and Vascular Tower, which includes a new sterile processing department with two cart washer, sterilizers and washers with automated line to increase throughput and efficiency. This new department will not only service the existing 22 operating rooms in the existing environment but will also support the 10 operating rooms integrated in the Tower. There are six cardiovascular operating rooms, two hybrid operating rooms, and two general operating rooms. These rooms are supported by PACU and Prep-Recovery Area. Additionally, there are eight cath labs and four electrophysiology Labs (EP) with radial lounge. There are 64 ICU beds which are acuity adaptable to go to step-down unit. There are an additional 68 acute care beds to support the cardiovascular program.
IMEG managed all vendors, including the Big Three Imaging vendors which had a slice of this project. We made this an adaptable process where implemented the available requirements and also those requirements which are not documented by the imaging vendors, to make the space functional. IMEG also provided a 3D equipment placement drawing and coordinated live with the design team members using the Revit Cloud. IMEG also procured all the medical equipment while maintaining the detailed coordination with the contractor and design team.
