HVAC Controls Modernization Assessments
The project: Provide a comprehensive assessment of existing Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC controls across nine schools within the Omaha Public Schools system.
The goal: To modernize and optimize the HVAC controls and systems in the Omaha Public Schools, ensuring efficient operation and improved environmental conditions for students and staff.
Design approach: IMEG conducted an in-depth investigation of each school to assess the existing HVAC environments. Our team determined the necessary BAS requirements and capabilities to meet project objectives, including evaluating the network communications infrastructure. We also assessed the potential for reusing existing BAS equipment, controllers, or network components to align with project goals. Throughout the process, we provided technical support and advice to stakeholders, ensuring informed decision-making.
Challenge: Ensuring that the existing BAS systems could be effectively modernized without significant additional costs or disruptions to the schools’ operations. Solution: By conducting thorough assessments and developing tailored control specifications, IMEG was able to identify opportunities for reusing existing equipment and optimizing the HVAC systems. This approach minimized the need for new installations while enhancing system performance.
Project outcome: The assessment provided Omaha Public Schools with a clear roadmap for modernizing their HVAC controls, leading to improved energy efficiency, enhanced comfort for occupants, and informed decision-making for future upgrades. The project positions the schools to better meet the needs of their students and staff while maintaining a focus on sustainability and operational efficiency.
