LEED Platinum College of Public Health
IMEG provided MEP and technology engineering for a new 130,000-SF classroom and office building for the College of Public Health. The building houses Health Management and Policy, Community/Behavioral Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Occupational and Environmental Health.
The building, designed with two major wings of four floors each above grade and a partial lower level, includes:
- 100-seat tiered lecture hall
- Seminar rooms
- Administrative offices
- Computer labs
- Conference rooms
- Student lounge
- Cafeteria
The building has achieved LEED Platinum certification, the first such designation for any University of Iowa academic facility. Sustainable design features include reflective roofing, use of natural lighting, permeable paving systems, vegetative swales, and native species planting areas. Plans also include shell space on the top level for the future fit-out of a 200-seat auditorium and additional classroom and meeting space.
