Library Adaptive use
The project: IMEG provided structural and civil engineering and survey services to transform the former Beal Aerospace facility into the new Frisco Public Library.
The goal: The objective was to repurpose the existing structure into a modern, dynamic library space that enhances user experience through open sight lines, adaptable spaces, and improved accessibility.
The design: Significant structural modifications were required for the roof and walls, with enhancements seamlessly integrated into the aesthetic. A mezzanine level was added to provide views of the vast open library space and the monumental stair seating. The two-story curtainwall glazing on the north side allows for abundant natural light and views of the entry plaza. Civil engineering efforts included assessing and designing new utilities, site grading for improved drainage, creating accessible routes, and designing new parking and entry plazas to enhance site functionality
The outcome: The transformed Frisco Public Library is now a 21st-century, experience-based facility featuring broad sight lines, flexible and adaptable spaces, and a design that fosters engagement and accessibility.
