This plan serves as a comprehensive roadmap for the future of recreation, parks, and open spaces within the city, covering short-, medium-, and long-range planning and maintenance needs. The goal was to create a strategic framework for the development and enhancement of community spaces that would meet the evolving needs of Norwich residents.
The goal: The primary goal of the project was to design a Master Park Plan that would address the diverse needs of the community while emphasizing sustainability, accessibility, and inclusivity. This plan aims to improve the quality of life for all citizens by fostering healthy living, physical activity, and emotional well-being through well-maintained and thoughtfully designed parks and recreational spaces.
Project amenities: The new Snobahn facility in Thornton features an indoor ski/snowboard park, skate park, trampolines, café/bar area, second-level mezzanine with party rooms, ski/snowboard service, and a private office.

The team incorporated principles of accessibility and sustainability, ensuring that the plan reflected the diverse population of Norwich. A robust community engagement effort was key to this process, ensuring that the voices and needs of residents were heard and incorporated into the final design.
The project team maintained a focus on providing equitable access to recreation, encouraging physical health, and supporting social-emotional well-being through well-planned park spaces.
