IMEG provided structural engineering design services, along with parking consulting, for the new 240,000-sf, five-story west wing addition to the hospital. The addition features an outpatient surgery suite, private inpatient bed units, NICU unit expansion, new central administration area, and a public atrium. The upper levels are connected to the existing hospital wings with structural steel bridges supported by the existing structure.

The new wing consists of a concrete filigree slab and drop beam structural system to meet the challenge of the existing hospital floor elevations. Creative engineering allowed for long span concrete (minimizing columns), shallow structure depth, and no interrupting lateral systems (shear walls).

The project included a 138,500-sf, four-level, 411-space, precast open parking garage. The facility is designed for a future single-story vertical expansion.
