Medical School Replacement Hospital
IMEG provided MEP engineering design for the University of California, Irvine’s new replacement hospital at the UCI Medical Center campus.
A 480,000-sf acute care facility, UC Irvine Douglas Hospital replaced UCI Medical Center’s main hospital building and was connected to the existing emergency department and birthing center via an enclosed bridge. The seven-floor facility is dedicated to patient care, teaching, and research, and provides 236 patient beds, 15 operating rooms, intensive care units, treatment rooms, and laboratories.
Project scope included a new cooling plant, all new utilities, HVAC and medical gas, electrical systems, high voltage power distribution, emergency supply, new generators, and service from the utility company.
