New 10-story Conference Center
IMEG provided LEED Fundamental and Enhanced Commissioning Services for the Rubenstein Forum, a state-of-the-art conference center at the University of Chicago. The 10-story, 100,00-sf building is located along the Midway Plaisance on the south end of the campus. The unique architecture features offset floor levels which feature expansive views of the University campus, Chicago skyline and the city, Lake Michigan and the campus. The building houses numerous meeting and collaborative spaces including a large University Room, Pre-Function, lecture halls, meeting rooms, lounges and support spaces. Amenities include a restaurant, dining rooms and administrative support spaces. An international collection of talent and ideas will gather at the Forum served by the on-site kitchen.
Building systems include campus chilled water, high efficiency condensing hot water boilers, five custom air handling and make-up handling units, over 200 active chilled beams throughout the building, plumbing systems serving the 10-floor tower and extensive electrical and technology systems. Commissioning services included the HVAC systems, plumbing systems, generator and ATS, electrical systems, lighting control and selected life safety systems.
