New Academic Health Center

With the intention of building a new Academic Health Center in downtown Indianapolis, this project will effectively replace the
aging Methodist and University Hospital facilities, and bringing together all services into a single facility. Once completed, the hospital will feature four towers, 16 stories, 864 beds, and over 2,000,000 square feet of space, surrounded by a medical office building, parking garages, utilize spaces, and classrooms for the Indiana School of Medicine. Additional features will include a rooftop terrace, dual helipads, walkways and tunnels linking the hospital to neighboring buildings, landscaped areas with outdoor seating, and more.
Under WSP as the lead engineer of record, IMEG is providing planning and program validation services, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering design, as well as value analysis support through CD development to support this multi-faceted design team.
The project has evolved with Owner directed changes to increase the scope of the project while at the same time it has faced challenges due to economic conditions and supply chain issues. IMEG has worked with the team to help minimize impacts to project schedule and contribute substantial value engineering opportunities to assist with budget management.
The campus aims to achieve LEED Silver certification, as well as EPA Energy Star rated for energy efficiency and a healthy indoor climate.
