IMEG provided civil design and construction administration services for the Miralon Amenity Center in Palm Springs, CA. The 23,000-sf center rests at the heart of the 309-acre Miralon community, which offers residents a sustainable, luxurious, and relaxing desert neighborhood on a former golf course.

The Amenity Center serves as a communal activity hub for residents and includes a full-service bar, demonstration kitchen, yoga and fitness studio, wi-fi café, two large pools, spa, cabanas, and bocce ball courts. IMEG worked closely with the owner and contractors to ensure the development maintained its prestige by recommending changes where necessary to improve overall accessibility.

While initially contracted to only design the Amenity Center, IMEG ultimately acted as the engineer of record for the entire project and bring it into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). To better understand the scope and needs of the project, IMEG conducted water quality sampling, drain studies, and planned significant redesigns to various portions of the initial Amenity Center and the surrounding area, including parking lots and pools. These efforts resulted in an expedited construction schedule.

Redesigns to the Amenity Center’s pool corrected incline and stair height issues that would have violated the ADA. Additionally, the pools were redesigned to correct elevation issues from the initial installation without demolishing the existing, partially built structures. Parking lots next to the center also were redesigned with subsequent changes allowing for more grades to be included. Along with these improvements, IMEG played an important role in planning redesigned access points for various Amenity Center utilities, such as creating space for an electrical transformer that needed to be moved.
