IMEG provided medical equipment planning and acoustics services for Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center’s new 151,000-sf Ocean View bed tower and a 32,000-sf renovation of related space.

The seven-story project includes 106 private patient rooms, including 10 state-of-the-art intensive care suites, and six high-tech operating rooms. Other spaces in the project include the morgue, kitchen, pharmacy, and material management. As part of the prestigious Planetree designation, natural light and large windows will bring healing outdoor elements to patients’ bedsides.

IMEG’s use of smart-room technology resulted in a consensus equipment plan with the users and AE team that was very instrumental in keeping the design-build project on schedule. The options, solutions, and best practices presented by IMEG helped the users achieve the high reliability organization (HRO) goal of project.

IMEG also proactively acquired seismic information on all vendor products in order to align with the Incremental Collaborative Review Process submittal to California’s Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development. This streamlined the decision-making process and helped lead to a more robust design from all design partners on the project.
