The project: IMEG provided civil engineering and land survey services for The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center’s Brain Institute and Cancer Center, a specialty care facility designed to advance research and expand academic and clinical support spaces for the Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The goal: To establish an internationally recognized brain institute, develop new research programs, and enhance
the medical center’s capacity to support cancer care and neuroscience advancements.

The design: The project includes two towers and a 1,200-space parking garage on a vast 21.5-acre site. Civil engineering efforts encompassed site layout and infrastructure design, incorporating retaining walls, an underground detention structure, nearly a mile of storm piping, drainage structures, and careful coordination of a complex existing utility network. Extensive regrading was also performed to ensure proper site drainage.

The outcome: The Brain Institute and Cancer Center enhances The University of Texas Southwestern’s ability to provide world-class specialty care and research, supported by a meticulously designed infrastructure that ensures long-term functionality and efficiency.
