The project: IMEG provided structural engineering services for the new business school at Texas A&M University. The development includes a new four-story modern learning-focused building for Mays Business School, renovations to the existing facility, and the creation of a “Collaboration Plaza” to connect both buildings and enhance outdoor learning and collaboration.

The goal: To expand and modernize the Mays Business School facilities, creating an innovative and collaborative environment while ensuring the protection of critical campus infrastructure.

The design: The new building features a grand three-story entry atrium, flexible gathering spaces for students and the community, and a striking architectural design. Due to a buried fiber optic cable serving the west side of campus, the building incorporates a 52-foot cantilever on levels three and four to avoid placing columns or foundations near the fiber line. To maintain a balanced aesthetic, the east end of the structure also features a cantilevered design.

The outcome: A cutting-edge facility that preserves the integrity of the campus’s infrastructure while providing expanded learning, collaboration, and engagement opportunities for students, faculty, and the community.
