New Casino and Hotel
IMEG provided structural engineering design services, along with construction administration and documents, for the new
casino resort with a hotel, parking garage, and events center.
The lower level is below grade on three sides. A conventionally reinforced cast-in-place concrete slab was utilized at the main level of the casino. This slab was extended under the hotel, effectively creating a seventh floor for the hotel — a “podium” type arrangement with six levels over the podium slab, plus future rooms at the lower level.
The hotel is framed with light gage, load-bearing metal studs. The metal studs support 7 ½” thick concrete-over-metal deck
floor slabs which provide a thin structure, preserving space for the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. The slabs minimize building height, provide the requisite two-hour fire protection, and are not prone to noticeable vibration from foot traffic. This system provides structural steel or cast-in-place concrete benefits at a more efficient cost.
The four-level, 1,446-stall parking garage is framed with pre-cast concrete.
