The project: IMEG provided structural engineering services for the new 97,963-sf Dr. Cavazos Center for Visual & Performing Arts in Arlington, TX.

The goal: The primary goal was to help the student performers and artists excel. To do this, the team brought design elements from world renowned performance facilities and incorporated them here for the Arlington Independent School District.

The design: The Center for Visual and Performing Arts is a comprehensive fine arts facility with classroom spaces for advanced focused courses, visual arts studios, dance studio, 1250-seat venue with fly loft, concert hall, and associated support areas. Designed for optimal acoustics and superior functionality, the event spaces offer an unrivaled experience. The venue also features a formal visual art gallery. In addition, this facility was designed to have an ICC 500 code-compliant storm shelter.

The outcome: More than a standalone performance space, the new center provides a space for students to flourish in their artistic endeavors.
