New Google Campus
IMEG provided engineering design and services for the new Google Pearl Place office campus, featuring 176,000-sf of occupied space in Phase 1 with plans for future expansion. The office space was designed to maximize employee effectiveness through the built environment with many unique features.
In addition to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design, IMEG also provided energy modeling services for this sustainability-designed office that was engineered to meet Google’s strict project requirements. The mechanical systems utilized dedicated outside air systems coupled with zone-level 4-pipe (chilled water/hot water) fan coil units. The exposed, highly dense, office space posed complex acoustical challenges for the design; IMEG worked closely with the equipment manufacturers and acoustical consultants to ensure that desired space acoustic levels were achieved. To fine tune ventilation, the system was designed to have a variable airflow dedicated outside air system coupled with a demand-controlled building automation system.
A variable speed exhaust and make up air system provides high efficiency exhaust control for the building’s 10,000-sf full-service multi-station commercial kitchen for staff.
