The project: The new Sharon High School site was developed to create a modern, pedestrian-friendly campus with enhanced educational and recreational facilities.

The goal: The objective was to design a functional and welcoming environment that promotes outdoor learning, improves athletic infrastructure, and integrates sustainable stormwater management while enhancing the overall campus experience for students, faculty, and the community.

The design: The campus features a grand promenade with a geometric paving pattern under a canopy of shade trees, providing a welcoming entrance. Multiple outdoor learning areas, including two courtyards and a lawn terrace off the cafeteria, offer spaces for dining and school events with scenic views of the lake. The athletic complex underwent significant renovations, including upgrades to the football field and track, new varsity softball and baseball fields, five tennis courts, and new concession facilities, all equipped with LED sports lighting. Additionally, an efficient bus and parking drop-off system was implemented, increasing overall parking capacity. A key sustainability feature is the stormwater management system, which captures roof runoff and channels it through landscape weirs adjacent to the existing wetland, creating a hands-on learning opportunity for faculty and students.

The outcome: The new campus design successfully enhances the student experience by offering dynamic outdoor learning environments, improved athletic facilities, and sustainable infrastructure. The integration of green spaces and stormwater management solutions supports both environmental responsibility and educational opportunities. The upgraded campus serves as a hub for both the school and the broader community, fostering engagement through accessible and well-designed spaces.
