IMEG is providing engineering design and services for a new 280,000-sf boutique hotel and mixed-use project. The Mid is part of a large-scale, $310 million project north of Whole Foods at Woodward and Mack in Detroit, MI. The 25-story building will be comprised of 225 Thompson Hotel brand guest rooms on the first 16 floors and luxury apartments on the top nine floors.

IMEG’s designs for MEP systems include a water source heat pump approach with dedicated outdoor air systems and energy recovery, high efficiency condensing boilers, guestroom management systems for lighting and HVAC control, and 75 kVA central UPS for network system reliability.

The project required close coordination with the master plan architect to design this property in unison with four other ongoing properties and a common parking structure beneath the project site footprint. This required team collaboration to provide combined electric and gas loads to DTE (local utility provider). IMEG played a key role in coordinating meetings with all stakeholders.

The project was designed to the Michigan Energy Code based on the ASHRAE 90.1-2016 using IMEG energy modeling compliance.
