The project: IMEG provided structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering design services for the Energy Systems Lab for the Idaho National Laboratory. This facility conducts research on bioenergy, energy storage and advanced vehicles, and energy systems integration.

The goal: To create a facility for multiple alternative fuel programs to explore and develop work, on a variety of scales, that reduces the economic, environmental, and technical risks and impacts of new energies.

Amenities: The building consists of a combination meeting center, office building, and laboratory. The facility is also home to a extensive battery lab and a CAVE – an immersive visualization lab that allows researchers to see their data from new perspectives.

The outcome: The new facility provides a dedicated space for processing and handling raw biomass materials, conducting advanced battery testing, and simulating power grid operations. This initiative supports a range of industries, including agriculture and transportation, while fostering opportunities for experimentation across multiple disciplines.
