New Manufacturing Building
IMEG provided engineering design services for the new Vermeer Applied Technology Hub at Iowa State University’s Research Park. The new building houses offices, shop spaces, laboratories, collaborative meeting space, and an equipment bay for industrial and agricultural equipment that the company manufactures.
The facility provides opportunities for full-time students at Iowa State to have close-to-campus, real-life experience, including part-time work and internships, working with Vermeer employees on testing and advancing the company’s equipment. It also creates an office location for full-time Vermeer team members seeking to live in Ames or to pursue additional education through ISU.
In addition to providing a high-visibility anchor space for the Pella-based manufacturer to attract engineering talent from the university, the new building also allows Vermeer to potentially collaborate with the 12 tenant companies of the ISU Startup Factory who occupy the building’s second floor. The Startup Factory is an intensive, 52-week program that aims to help entrepreneurs and innovators grow their companies or ideas.
IMEG provided MEP, fire protection and technology design for the building, which is LEED Gold certified.
