The project: IMEG provided mechanical and plumbing engineering services for the design and construction of a new 135,000-square-foot middle school serving seventh and eighth-grade students. The facility was built on a 20-acre site adjacent to Thunder Ridge High School, creating an integrated educational campus for the growing community. The design prioritized functionality, collaboration, and modern learning environments to support the evolving needs of students and educators.

The goal: The primary objective of the project was to accommodate the increasing student population in the district by providing a state-of-the-art educational facility. The school was designed to foster a dynamic and engaging learning environment while incorporating flexible spaces to support a variety of teaching methods and future growth.

Project amenities: The new middle school was designed to hold up to 900 students and features an open-concept “learning stair” that serves as a multi-functional gathering space for collaborative learning. Large, modern classrooms provide an enhanced educational experience, while a spacious gymnasium supports both physical education and extracurricular activities. The school’s design integrates natural light, energy-efficient systems, and adaptable learning spaces to create an innovative and inspiring environment for students and staff.

The outcome: Construction of the middle school was completed in August 2021. The project successfully provides a modern, engaging space for students to learn and grow, ensuring a high-quality educational experience for years to come.
