New Mixed-Use Urban Community
IMEG’s San Francisco structural team provided engineering design and services for Avalon Walnut Creek, a mixed-use development that is part of the Contra Costa Centre Transit Village. The village is an 18-acre site master-planned by MVE & Partners and developed by Pleasant Hill BART Transit Village Associates. Land that was primarily surface parking for 1,500 BART patrons was revitalized into a mixed-use urban community with multi-unit housing and retail space. This mixed-use development contains 550 residential units, 45,000-sf of retail space, 290,000-sf of commercial office space, and parking for 1,500 cars. Three- to five-story wood frame buildings contain housing units above retail space. Multiple four-story wood frame buildings contain an underground poured-in-place concrete parking structure. The office facilities range from four to twelve stories in height.
