The project: This 70,000-sf state-of-the-art music venue is a key anchor in the multi-phase, mixed-use Downtown South district of Raleigh. Designed to accommodate up to 3,500 guests, the venue will support concerts, private events, and community programming, and will include a rooftop lounge offering elevated views and experiences.

The goal: The venue is envisioned as a cultural and entertainment hub that enhances the vibrancy of the Downtown South redevelopment. The goal is to create a performance space that delivers exceptional audience experiences while meeting the structural demands of a modern, high-capacity music venue.

The design: The structural system consists of steel columns supporting long-span custom steel trusses and joists over the main auditorium. Mezzanine levels are constructed using composite steel framing with concrete-topped decking. The design accommodates multi-tiered seating, balcony platforms, and performance infrastructure such as rigging supports for lighting, sound equipment, curtains, acoustic “clouds,” catwalks, and other suspended systems. Each element is carefully coordinated to support the dynamic and variable loads of a live entertainment environment.

The outcome: Upon completion, the venue will stand as a cornerstone of Raleigh’s evolving downtown district—delivering immersive performances in a purpose-built space that reflects both technical excellence and cultural ambition. The structural design supports not only aesthetic and acoustic goals, but also the long-term adaptability required of a premier performance venue.
