New Public Safety Complex
The project: IMEG provided structural engineering services for the new public safety complex designed to house the police department headquarters and a 911 dispatch center.
The goal: The facility was master planned and designed as the first phase of a larger campus, with the flexibility to accommodate the future growth of the police department.
The design: Overall, the design prioritizes functionality, security, and long-term scalability. In addition to the primary structure, the project included alternate services such as a structured ground floor slab, foundation design for a fueling system with a pre-engineered canopy, and foundations for a 75-foot-tall pre-engineered communication tower. These elements were incorporated to support the department’s operational needs and infrastructure requirements. A key feature of the building is an ICC 500 code-compliant storm shelter, ensuring safety and resilience during severe weather events.
The outcome: The project was successfully completed and received industry recognition, earning a Gold Award in the 2021 Law Enforcement Design Awards. This honor highlights the facility’s innovative design, forward-thinking planning, and commitment to excellence in public safety infrastructure.
