New Recreation Center
The project: IMEG provided structural engineering services for the new recreation center designed to accommodate various sports and community activities. It includes a competition gymnasium with eight courts, recreation gymnasium with three courts, jogging track, classrooms/multipurpose rooms, and locker rooms. Two levels of the facility are above grade, with the basement level seven feet below grade.
The goal: The goal of the project was to create a modern, flexible space for the community that supports a wide range of athletic, educational, and recreational activities. The facility was designed to cater to both competitive sports and general fitness, fostering health and wellness within the community.
The design: The design of the recreation center includes a competition gymnasium with eight courts for various sports, a separate recreation gymnasium with three courts, and a jogging track for fitness enthusiasts. The facility is designed with two above-grade levels, with additional space located seven feet below grade to maximize the site’s use. Classrooms and multipurpose rooms provide flexibility for events and educational programming.
The outcome: The recreation center successfully provides the community with state-of-the-art facilities for both competitive and recreational activities. With a diverse range of spaces, it fosters active living, education, and social interaction, serving as a hub for local fitness and wellness programs.
