IMEG’s Los Angeles structural team (formerly Nishkian Chamberlain) provided structural design services for Agoura Hills Recreation Center. The project was a major renovation, remodel, and seismic retrofit of an existing 15,400 square foot church into a new recreation center for the City of Agoura Hills. Also included were the design of two new multipurpose rooms totaling another 10,000 square feet of space. Construction consisted of a combination of wood and steel frame structures with open structure ceilings and exposed timber trusses. Lateral systems consist of wood shear walls and special steel moment resisting frames.
