IMEG provided engineering design and services for the 107,000-sf Federal Research Laboratory facility operated by the Secretaria de Salud in the heart of Mexico City. The facility consists of a vivarium and Bio-Safety Laboratory Level III (BSL-3) high containment laboratories that focus on Tuberculosis research. The labs are designed to comply with strict CDC BMBL requirements for a Select Agent lab. The facility includes seven stories of containment and wet laboratories with a sophisticated air pressurization controls system to maintain directional airflow throughout

The MEP design included a 600-ton chiller plant, heating and process steam, medical gas, deionized water systems, VAV laboratory exhaust, HEPA filtration, cold storage and a DDC Access Control System.

IMEG was part of the design-build team that provided laboratory design expertise, peer review and served as the laboratory commissioning agent (CxA) to verify and ensure that the building systems are constructed and performing to the CDC BMBL standards.
