New Two-Story Fire Station
The project: The City of Raleigh wanted to construct a new, two-story, LEED Gold certified fire station to support the surrounding community.
Project amenities: The station includes three drive-through apparatus bays, support and training space for firefighters, and dorm space located on the second level.
Design approach: Atlantec Engineers, now IMEG, provided plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection design services for the project. The electrical design included PV panels, emergency generator and notification system for alarms in accordance with City of Raleigh requirements. Mechanical systems utilized VAV packaged unit and energy recovery ventilators for building pressurization, zoning control and efficient operation.
Plumbing design incorporated low flow fixtures and high efficient condensing water heaters. Our team performed fundamental commissioning as part of the project.
Project outcome: Atlantec Engineers, now IMEG, worked with other design partners and contractors during the project to successfully document to the USGBC for a LEED Gold rating.
