New University Dorm Rooms
IMEG provided design reviews for the Lassonde Studios at the University of Utah. The 152,000-sf building includes dorm rooms, loft apartments, pod living areas, administration space, and a collaborative research and development “garage” designed to encourage flexibility and collaboration.
IMEG’s professional engineering design staff performed mechanical and electrical design reviews, and IMEG’s energy modeling professionals provided reviews of the energy model.
The firm also provided commissioning services for the project. This included a commissioning kick-off meeting, issuance of the commissioning plan, a specifications summary, and example documentation (testing forms, flush plan, questionnaire, etc.) for the contractors’ reference. IMEG included the general contractor on all site walks and attended all construction meetings. All commissioning issues were identified, communicated to the general contractor, and quickly resolved in the field.
Relevant equipment on this project included: air handlers with heat recovery coils, condensing boilers, chilled and condenser water systems, heat exchangers, pumps, fan coil units, VAVs, emergency generator system, transformers, switchboards, switchgear, and lighting systems.
