New Visitor Center and Museum

The project: IMEG provided structural engineering services for the construction of a new visitor center, museum, and maintenance building at the Texas Historical Commission’s San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site.
The goal: The objective was to create a historically inspired and culturally integrated space that enhances visitors’ understanding of San Felipe de Austin’s significance while blending with the surrounding landscape.
The design: The structural design features timber decorative trusses, reflecting Texas culture and harmonizing with the local climate and visual landscape. These elements provide both aesthetic appeal and structural integrity, ensuring the buildings complement the historic site.
The outcome: The completed facilities offer an immersive and educational experience for visitors, preserving and showcasing the historical significance of San Felipe de Austin while maintaining architectural harmony with the site’s natural and cultural environment
